Six Georgia men are facing federal charges for trafficking guns to New York. According to the 17-count indictment unsealed last week, half of the men are former military. They allegedly smuggled guns through an underground market known as the “Iron Pipeline.” It connects states with strict gun laws like New York to Southern states, which have fewer restrictions. Georgia is one of the leading exporters of illegal guns. We learn more about the Iron Pipeline from New York City’s Public Advocate Tish James and BuzzFeed News national editor Tina Susman.
