The Port of Savannah is about to get bigger, to make room for bigger ships. That will mean more containers full of cargo coming in and out of the port. Those containers reach their destinations by rail – and by trucks. As many as 2000 drivers service the Port of Savannah, by some estimates. GPB Savannah’s Sarah McCammon recently spent a morning riding along with one of them.

Meet the pilots who bring the ships safely up the river.

Meet a crane operator at the port.
