Medient Studios says in a press release that it's chosen the Savannah-based firm Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung as the project engineer for a multi-million dollar studioplex.

The film production company’s board fired its CEO and downsized the staff last week. The company says it’s simplifying what was planned to be a $90 million facility in Effingham County near Savannah.

Medient says it’s making progress at the site and selected Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung “after a comprehensive search and bid process.”

The company’s principal, Steve Wohlfeil, told GPB Savannah Friday afternoon he was pleased to hear that Medient is choosing his firm. But he said he had not yet received word from Medient or a contract to work on the project. Medient says through a spokesperson that the contract details are being finalized.
