The Lady Eagles lacrosse team of Milton High School is one of the most outstanding programs in any sport in the state of Georgia. The numbers are not only an incredible commitment to excellence...they're somewhat mind boggling as well. We'll start with the nine state championships in the last ten years....that trophy count is reminiscent of UCLA’s dominance in college basketball under coach Johnny Wooden. This program has produced eighteen All-Americans, 48 Academic All-Americans, 37 All-State Players, and 30 Division I players. This year’s squad is off to a picture perfect 3-0 start. The Lady Eagles are ranked No. 1 in the state of Georgia and fifth nationally. Those rankings bring us to this weekend’s big fireworks. On Friday night at 7pm, Milton will host the top-ranked girl’s lacrosse team in the country in McDonough, Maryland: a team that has won over 100 games in a row. Then on Saturday, Milton will host Vero Beach, Florida: a team ranked No. 2 in the South. Coach Tim Godby even mentioned that other area coaches are bringing their entire teams to watch these games. The Lady Eagles are once again extremely talented with eight of twelve starters returning led by leading scorer Jessi Masinko, Midfielder Hannah Davis, and goal keeper, Shahparz Mirza. And what about this statistic? Fifteen members of this team have accepted scholarship offers to Division I programs. This Friday and Saturday, Milton's lacrosse field will be quite the hotspot if you're a fan of prep sports....a "lacrosse-apalooza" for the ages. Big crowds are expected so get out to Milton High School early and enjoy two great games. You can thank me later.
