Amalfi Gives A Taste Of Neapolitan, While Let’s Dish Gives A Taste Of Georgia
Last week, I had a chance to preview the dishes at Amalfi Pizza, a Neapolitan trattoria, newly opened in the old Dailey’s building in downtown Atlanta on Andrew Young International Boulevard. Domino’s Pizza it definitely isn’t! Amalfi’s pies are baked in two 6,000 pound wood burning ovens flown in from Italy that had to be installed by cranes to the second floor space.
While pizza is the restaurant’s flagship dish, it has much more on the menu: plenty of pastas (I recommend the angel hair!), salads galore (try the arugula!) and several desserts (what’s an italian meal without tiramasu?). I hopped out of my comfort zone and nibbled on the white cheese mushroom pizza which had a tasty salty, sweet, soft crust and washed it down with lemonade.
Add Amalfi’s to your bucket list of eateries and for more ideas on where else to dine out, I suggest you catch our special Let’s Dish which airs Thursday, September 29 at 8 p.m. On the hour long show, lucky and hopefully hungry hosts David Zelski and Jackie Brittain eat their way across the state at many places locals love best. Jackie seemed to take the job especially seriously going as far as sampling the "scrumptious" feed the cattle raised at Brasstown Beef in Blairsville are fed!
A more manageable meal?: the steamed shrimp delivered straight from the fisherman’s catch to the table at The Rah Bar on Jekyll Island. Catch a preview below before you see the full show tonight and let us know where you’ll be making reservations next.
