Tommy Palmer "A Race Well Run.."

Tommy Palmer was known as one of the preeminent voices of high school football in the state of Georgia for decades. Whether it was in radio with the "High School Scoreboard Show," print in Statesboro and Savannah, or television with us here at Georgia Public Broadcasting during our coverage of "Football Fridays in Georgia" and the GHSA Championships, his sense of community, history, and sport resonated with everyone he touched.

I re-visit my conversation with Tommy Palmer from a few months ago on the Football Fridays in Georgia podcast. We talked about his incredible legacy, and his love for high school football.

Those of us here at GPB will miss him for his sense of humor, style, and professionalism and how he represented the state of Georgia to everyone he talked to in the fall.
