The state tournament went a long way to determining the final girls basketball rankings. Norcross finally regained the No. 1 rankings after beating North Gwinnett in the final, while Southwest DeKalb rose to the top spot after ousting Miller Grove for the second time in a row.

St. Pius X earned the top sot in the AAA in a year that was dominated by Buford and Washington County. Wesleyan was the only wire-to-wire No. 1 in the state and proved its superiority by winning every playoff game by a landslide.

St. Francis jumped from No. 5 to No. 1 after a magical tournament run.
