GEL partners with the Georgia Film Academy to deliver gaming and esports college curricula to students, and engages students with event and project experiences via a Ghost Gaming Ambassador program.
GEL currently has 13 member institutions across the state including:

- Columbus State University
- Emory University
- Georgia Tech
- Georgia State University

“GPB educates, informs, and entertains Georgians to enrich the quality of their lives,” said GPB Director of Education, Laura Evans. “Gaming and esports are now one of the best ways to reach and educate the next generation and so we are excited to partner with Ghost Gaming and the Georgia Esports League on our educational content initiatives.”
The GEL biweekly web show “State of Esports” will be distributed on GPB platforms starting this summer. And GPB and Ghost Gaming will collaborate on other educational content and in-person activations relating to gaming and esports.
“Gaming and esports are a gateway to education, STEM project-based learning, and workforce development,” said Todd Harris, Ghost Gaming CEO. “GPB’s broadcasting reach extends across the entire state, as does their reputation for high-quality educational programming. So we are thrilled to partner with GPB to create and distribute esports educational content from the Georgia Esports League.”
The state of Georgia leads the nation when it comes to education-based esports initiatives. Georgia was one of the first five states to adopt esports as a varsity high school sport and there are currently 175 high schools with varsity esports programs. This December, the gaming consumer festival DreamHack will be held in Atlanta as well as Esports Summit, a global conference for thought leaders in esports and education.
