Walk Georgia is a web-based program through University of Georgia Extension that is designed to increase Georgians’ physical activity. School systems, schools, and classrooms can participate through regular activity that is logged by the teacher. Research has proven that students who get more physical activity during the school day are more engaged and receptive to cognitive gains, show improved test scores, and maintain better behavior. In partnership with University of Georgia’s College of Education, Walk Georgia has also developed lesson plans for fourth and fifth grade mathematics, health, and P.E.

If you want to participate in the Power Up for 30—Walk Georgia Contest, follow these three easy steps:

1. Register for Walk Georgia by January 27

2. Create your class group

3. Log your class’s physical activity

The classroom with the most activity time will win the first place prize pack, which includes prizes for both the students and the teacher. Check out the Walk Georgia website to get started!
