Medal Quest

Did you know that London is also hosting the 2012 Paralympics this summer? You can watch the U.S. Paralympic athletes as they train and compete with Medal Quest: American Athletes and The Paralympic Games online. More than 4,000 athletes from 150 countries are expected to compete at the London Paralympic Games, which open on August 29 and run through September 9, 2012. You can follow all of the action online with Medal Quest. This is an excellent opportunity to share in the patriotism of the games as well as the perseverance of the human spirit.

One of the Paralympic sports is Goalball, combining bowling and soccer, but the athletes rely on hand-ear coordination because they are all at least partially blind. To even the field, everyone wears a black blindfold topped by blackout ski goggles. The arena is nearly silent during play so that the teams can hear the ball’s location on the court.

In honor of Memorial Day, Medal Quest is also releasing a new video from the 2012 Wounded Warrior Games, honoring and celebrating wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans from all branches of the military. You can watch a the completed video here.
