Hosted by Kai Ryssdal, Marketplace is an in-depth program that focuses on everything from the latest business news both nationally and internationally, the global economy, and wider events linked to the financial markets. The only national daily business news program originating from the West Coast, Marketplace is noted for its timely, relevant and accessible coverage of business, economics and personal finance.
Kai Ryssdal is an American radio journalist and the host of Marketplace, a business program that airs weekdays. He also co-hosts the spinoff podcast Make Me Smart with Molly Wood.
I’ve anchored and reported for Marketplace since 1989 from bases in London, Los Angeles and New York. Multimedia journalism’s my thing — been doing radio since I was a little boy. I write, love cameras and audio/video editing and have anchored television. I grew up in a small town in Maine but have attended schools in Italy, Madagascar and Ghana.
I'm the host of “Marketplace Tech,” a daily broadcast focused on demystifying the digital economy. I'm also co-host of the “Make Me Smart” podcast alongside Kai Ryssdal, where we try to make sense of big topics in business, tech and culture.
