Georgia Tech Ends Summer Graduation
Primary Content
The Georgia Institute of Technology is eliminating summer commencement ceremonies to save money.
The Atlanta university announced that it will hold two commencement ceremonies each year -- one in the fall and another in the spring -- instead of three.
Georgia Tech spokesman Matt Nagel said the change is being made to be fiscally responsible. He said the move will save from $35,000 to $70,000.
Nagel said about 450 students participate in summer commencement. That compares to about 1,500 for fall and 2,300 for spring.
