Accounting students from Clayton State University are offering free income tax assistance for certain eligible taxpayers.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program has been hosted by the College of Business for 22 years. Taxpayers who make less than $49,000 a year are eligible for help with their personal income taxes.

The students receive extensive IRS training and testing so they can ensure that they fill out the forms accurately and help taxpayers receive all the credits for which they qualify.

The program doesn't provide help with out-of-state or small business returns, or for those who are self-employed.

The school says the service will be offered at the College of Business on the following Saturdays: Feb. 4, Feb. 11, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 17, March 24 and March 31.
