Business owners in North Georgia are preparing for the start of leaf season.

David Greear of Helen Riverside Cabins says the first day of autumn brings expectations of crowds coming for fall colors.

“People like just escaping the urban environment from time to time and fall seems like a good time to do that you know, because of the change of the season and the crispness in the air it just seems like a popular thing for folks to do” says Greear.

Georgia state parks have started their annual leaf-watching website.

The fall colors change over a period of several weeks depending on elevation, temperature and tree type.
