Super Bowl 53 Weather: Warming Temps Bring Sigh Of Relief

Don’t panic, ice storms won’t be returning to Atlanta on Super Bowl Sunday.
The last time Atlanta hosted the massive event, 19 years ago, two ice storms froze roads, caused major power outages and spoiled game day.
But fans can expect 61 degrees on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast is a sigh of relief after stressful flashbacks of the 2000 Super Bowl led officials to close schools and state offices Tuesday.
There is a 50 percent chance of scattered rain showers, but NFL officials hope to be able to open the retractable roof of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the game.
MARTA Chief of Rail Operations David Springstead said they have preparation plans for any inclement weather, but he hopes that it is not needed.
“We plan for inclement weather every winter season, so we're geared up, Springstead said. “We may have bought some extra materials, have some extra personnel. We probably topped off everything a little more than usual.”
The first week of February will continue to give small sneak peaks of spring with rain showers and rising temperatures.
Wednesday is expected to reach 70 degrees.
Georgia’s weather remains notoriously unpredictable.
