Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed says the city has agreed to pay $4.9 million to the family of a 92-year-old woman killed in a botched drug raid.

The mayor said Monday that Atlanta will pay the family of Kathryn Johnston $2.9 million this fiscal year and the rest next year.

Reed says lawyers have been negotiating for seven months and reached the settlement Friday.

The 92-year-old Johnston was shot in November 2006 during a drug raid at her home. Officials say three officers entered her home using a no-knock warrant. Police said Johnston fired at them and they fired in response.

Former Atlanta police officers Jason R. Smith, Gregg Junnier and Arthur Tesler pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate civil rights resulting in death and were sentenced in 2009.
