U.S. Congressman John Barrow spoke with trainees at Augusta’s Veterans Curation Project lab. It's one of 3 in the country that teaches veterans computer and other technical skills. The program's stimulus funding runs out in August. Barrow says he wants to make sure the program continues. He is sponsoring a bill that would do just that. It would give the program permanent funding and increase the 50 spots a year currently available to veterans.

"My bill will expand that and double that so that we can turn out as many as 100 folks with the high skills necessary to do this kind of work on an annual basis," said Barrow. "It’s not anything like what needs to be done but it’s a big step in the right direction."

The program archives the Army Corp of Engineers' extensive collection of artifacts.
