Ear Hustle Live! will explore how dreams and fantasy can be a way of “escaping” the realities of prison life. We’ll be sharing some of our favorite moments from the show, for example: when our friend Reggie ate his first orange in 20 years, or Mike, a former Sureno gang member, describing how decades in prison have changed what he dreams about. There will be live musical and dance performances from longtime friends of Ear Hustle, Antwan Williams and Eric “Maserati E” Abercrombie, who started working with Ear Hustle when they were incarcerated, and are now free. (Here’s Antwan performing during our last live tour, and here’s Maserati.)  Plus: many other visual surprises that we’re debuting for the first time on stage.

The show’s co-hosts – Earlonne Woods, who spent 20+ years in prison, and Nigel Poor, who first came into San Quentin to teach photography to incarcerated men – will share their own stories about what it was like creating the first podcast ever made inside a prison.
