The event billed as the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the Southeast returns to Atlanta Thursday night.

The 27th annual Peach Drop is expected to bring 80,000 people to Underground Atlanta to ring in 2016.

Festivities will kick off at 7 p.m. with a night of live music with sets from alternative rock band Sister Hazel and Atlanta rapper T.I.

Then, just before midnight, the 800-pound peach will drop to ring in 2016, followed by a shower of confetti and a fireworks show.

Organizers are asking attendees to carpool or take MARTA, as parking will be limited, and to not participate in celebratory gunfire, which is illegal.

This year’s celebration is a departure from past Peach Drop events, which featured a full day’s worth of live music and activities.
