Clark Atlanta University officials say they're going to split a $25 million federal grant with 12 other historically black colleges and universities to launch a cybersecurity consortium.

CAU spokesman Larry Calhoun said in a release Tuesday that the five-year grant is being distributed by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Calhoun says the program is meant to help fill a growing need for qualified cybersecurity professionals. The program is also meant to diversify the talent pipeline in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-based industries.
