Georgia education officials may open their review of standards for K-12 students up to the public.

State education officials released a revised set of standards on Tuesday after months of hearings held across Georgia.

The Georgia State Board of Education will hold a special meeting Wednesday in Atlanta, the next step in a review of Common Core standards ordered by Gov. Nathan Deal.

Comment would be open for 60 days before the board meets again in January to review the feedback.

Education leaders say most of the changes are meant to clarify language. The biggest change is moving toward more traditional math instruction for high school students. That approach splits algebra and geometry into classes, rather than teaching concepts at the same time as most Georgia districts have done recently.
