St. Vincent's National Emergency Management Organization raised the island's alert to red on Thursday, after days of increased seismic activity at the La Soufriere volcano.

Indonesia, an archipelago of 270 million people, sits along the Pacific "Ring of Fire," which leaves the country prone to earthquakes, tsunamis and eruptions.

The volcano last erupted in 2018, destroying hundreds of homes and forcing the evacuation of thousands around Hawaii's Big Island.
