A man accused of attacking police with a machete near New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve is now facing federal terrorism charges, authorities announced Tuesday.
Times Square is one of scores of "sensitive" places — including parks, churches and theaters — that will be off-limits for guns under a sweeping new state law going into effect Thursday.
The party's on, thanks to COVID-19 vaccines. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that Times Square will be open this New Year's Eve to those who are fully vaccinated.
Skirmishes broke out after some counterdemonstrators yanked flags off vehicles – and some drivers and passengers got out of their cars.
