Congolese gynecologist Denis Mukwege has spent nearly 25 years campaigning against sexual violence and aiding survivors. On Thursday, he won the $1 million Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity. In his remarks, he paid tribute to the survivors. Stealthing can result in pregnancy or the transmission of a sexually transmitted disease, but advocates say removal is itself a violation. Victims will be able to sue the perpetrators in civil court.
