South African sailor Kirsten Neuschafer beat 15 rivals in the 2022 Golden Globe Race, a grueling, nonstop, round-the-world sailing competition. She is the first woman in the race's history to have taken first place.

South Africa's Kirsten Neuschafer beat out 15 rivals to win the Golden Globe Race, crossing the finish line in France on Thursday after nearly eight months solo at sea.

This race is a nonstop sail around the world. Cassette tapes are allowed, but no GPS

To win the Golden Globe Race, sailors compete solo using celestial navigation to find their way, and they are forced to battle high winds and rough seas without the use of any electronic equipment.
