Cocoa prices have fallen nearly 70% since last Valentine’s Day, but that won’t make heart-shaped boxes of chocolate or even chocolate Easter bunnies more affordable this year.

The Waffle House restaurant chain is putting a 50 cent per egg surcharge in place temporarily due to the biggest bird flu outbreak in a decade. The restaurant, typically a reliable spot for a cheap breakfast, said that the resulting egg shortage has led to a dramatic increase in its costs.

The bargain store has been testing the increase for months and says it's not a reaction to the current surge in inflation, though it will help.

Some of the changes will result in increased transit times for cross-country and other long-distance deliveries. The price increases will not affect shipping for international products.
