Gideon Cody's resignation comes days after Cody was suspended for reasons that were not made public, and weeks after a prosecutor said that there wasn't sufficient evidence to justify the search.

Marion Mayor Dave Mayfield in a text said he suspended Chief Gideon Cody on Thursday. He declined to discuss his decision further and did not say whether Cody was still being paid.

Judge who signed Kansas newspaper search warrant had 2 DUI arrests, reports say

The Marion County Record now has all of the devices police seized in a raid. Local newspapers report that the judge who signed the search warrant had two drunken driving arrests within a year.
