Texas has apologized after fans littered the field with water bottles and trash after an interception for the top-ranked Longhorns against No. 5 Georgia was initially wiped out by a pass-interference penalty before officials changed the call.

What started as a nonpartisan rite of passage, the tradition of victorious athletes visiting the president has become increasingly tangled up in politics. It's a shift that some peg to Bill Clinton's presidency, and it'll continue on Friday when Joe Biden hosts the championship men’s and women’s college basketball teams.

Georgia's championship team declines White House invitation

According to a statement released by the Georgia athletic association, the Bulldogs will not be able to attend a June 12 event with other college teams at the White House described by President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden as "College Athlete Day."

No. 1 Georgia tries to launch dynasty against emboldened TCU

No. 1 Georgia could become the first school to repeat as major college football champions since Alabama a decade ago, and the first to go back-to-back in the nine-year history of the four-team playoff. Coach Kirby Smart's Bulldogs are back in the College Football Playoff championship game Monday night against No. 3 TCU.

Former UGA Player Says Racism, Campus Police Harassment Took 'Devastating Mental Toll'

Otis Reese, a former Georgia defensive back, is fighting for immediate eligibility at Ole Miss after his January transfer. Reese posted a letter to Twitter on Tuesday night alleging that he was manipulated by head coach Kirby Smart and his staff, adding that Georgia opposed his request to the NCAA for eligibility to play this season.
