Georgia College and State University has been given a $9 million donation from the late Gertrude Ehrlich’s estate, the largest in the school’s 136-year history, the university announced Friday morning.

Former Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox has been chosen as the sole finalist to become president of Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

The top 10 metro areas in the nation for the highest rates of COVID-19 cases over the past two weeks are all college towns.

The list, as compiled Monday by the New York Times, includes two Georgia college towns: Milledgeville, where Georgia College is located, which is No. 5. It’s followed at No. 6 by Statesboro, the home of Georgia Southern University.
