Derek Chauvin was moved to a prison in Texas months after he was stabbed in a different facility. Meanwhile, another former Minneapolis officer, Thomas Lane, was released from prison in Colorado.

John Turscak stabbed Chauvin 22 times at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson and said he would've killed Chauvin had correctional officers not responded so quickly, federal prosecutors say.

Chauvin is currently serving concurrent state and federal sentences in an Arizona prison. The three-person Court of Appeals says it will issue its opinion within 90 days.

A trial was set to begin in Minnesota court for former officers Tou Thao and J. Alexander Kueng. In a turnabout, Kueng will plead guilty to aiding and abetting the manslaughter of Floyd.
