Passengers at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas will be the first to use a new prototype airport security system, which has been compared to the self-checkout at a grocery store.
The number of firearms found at airport security checkpoints has reached an all-time high. Agency officials said the No. 1 reason passengers give is that they forgot they were carrying them.
The say officers stopping passengers on the bridges from the gate to the plane, questioning them, and searching their bags is unconstitutional. The suit stems from separate incidents in 2020 and 2021.
The decision comes months after the Department of Homeland Security barred New York residents from the program, citing the state's law allowing undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses.
