Gov. Brian Kemp signed the state's 2026 budget into law Friday morning.
The 2026 budget, which takes effect July 1, includes more money for prisons, school safety and student mental health.
House Appropriations Chair Matt Hatchett said it reflects the Legislature’s priorities.
“We're incredibly proud to celebrate yet another year of passing historic tax cuts and returning over a billion dollars back to hardworking Georgians all while making strategic, fiscally responsible investments in the areas that matter most to keep our state the best place to live, work and raise a family," he said.
Kemp also signed a series of bills related to licensure reform.
The signing ceremony was one of the last public signings of the year. The deadline for Kemp to sign all bills into law is Wednesday.
