LEILA FADEL, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Leila Fadel. An abstract painting by David Bowie is up for auction. It's expected to get somewhere between nine and twelve thousand dollars, a far cry from the $4.09 the unnamed seller paid. They picked it up at a donation center in Canada because they liked the look of the vibrant blue and red acrylic artwork and only later noticed the signature on the back. It belonged to Ziggy Stardust himself and was dated 1997. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
