Georgia public service commissioners approved a rate hike for Atlanta Gas Light on Thursday. It's the second time this week they approved one.

For the second time this week, Georgia public service commissioners approved a rate hike for a utility company.

On Thursday, all five commissioners voted in favor of a $65 million rate increase for the company. That will amount to an extra $2.54 on monthly bills for the average customer.

The company had originally requested an increase of $90 million. Even though a lower rate was approved, Commissioner Tricia Pridemore said she still wasn’t pleased about.

"This motion is about 15 million more than I would've liked for you to receive,” Pridemore said before voting in favor of it on Thursday. “Your rate case proposal was weak and lacked detail."

But she said she voted for it due to the requirement for AGL to have a better leak response time and the long-range planning tool that's included.

Other stipulations in the motion include:

-Increasing the availability of four-hour customer reconnection appointments within the 4 to 8 p.m. time window by 25%

-Establish regular connection customer appointments on Saturdays

-Improve customer experience by fulfilling no less than 80% of its scheduled customer appointments within a four-hour window

-Improve average leak response times to 25 minutes or less

Commissioners also ordered AGL to work with Georgia Watch and the PSC to put a million-dollar low-income assistance program in place.
