There are plenty to events to choose from this weekend in sunny Savannah. Bill Dawers of Hissing Lawns and the Savanah Morning News and Mia Mance of G100 have their top picks already on hand.

Prepare to sip and salsa this Thursday night at Ghost Coast Distillery for the “Almost There Party” fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Dancing with Savannah Stars: Star of Your Choice and benefits  Savannah/ Chatham's Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. A $10 donation is suggested for guests.   

Reel in the premieres of the annual Savannah 48-hour film festival, an annual film festival celebrating the talents and creativity of local actors, screenwriters, and directors. The fun kicks off this Thursday and lasts all weekend at the Royal Cinema IMAX in Pooler.

Roll into some fun with the Derby Devils this Saturday at the Savannah Derby Devils Drink & Dye event held at the Southbound Brewing Company from 2 to 8 p.m. Do it yourself tie dye, beer and Derby Devils merchandising will be offered as part of the event to support Savannah’s growing and rolling derby team.

Wake up and clean up with the Savannah Trash Warriors this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to help fight littler pollution in the Avondale neighborhood of Savannah.  All volunteers interested are welcome to participate and bring their friends along for the sweep.

Lie in the Shade at the kickoff of the Tybee Equality Fest, beginning this Thursday and lasting all weekend to celebrate LGBTQ pride. Several events are scheduled, including the first annual Equality by the Sea Parade, drag shows, and a special appearance by noted Savannah sociologist Dr. Bertice Berry.  Events are free to the general public.

Rock by the Water this Friday at the monthly Fourth Friday Pavilion Series hosted at The Isle of Hope Marina from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The Savannah-based country music act Lynn Avenue will be the special musical guest. The admission for the event is $7 for adults and $3 for kids.

Southern music and meals blossom in Garden City this Saturday with the inaugural Southern Roots Festival. The food and festivities, headlined by country music artist Tracy Byrd, last from 2 to 10 p.m.  Local bands and restaurants will be featured from beginning to end as part of the festival’s lineup. General admission after 5 p.m. is $25, with early bird admission before 5 p.m. listed at $10.

Have an adventure in Fort Pulaski National Monument. The local landmark offers free admission to all guests this Sunday to commemorate of the National Parks Service anniversary. With lots to be done, it’s a great monument to check out for new information and family fun.
