This Memorial Day weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy art, music, shopping — maybe even adopt a pet — and food in Savannah.

Co-editor of Paprika Southern Magazine Bevin Valentine Jalbert has your guide.

Bevin talks Memorial Day weekend events in Savannah.

Bevin's picks:

  • Support contemporary photography at Ain't Bad's opening reception for their new show "Ain't Bad:Collaborations" at Laney Contemporary. Ain't Bad publishes contemporary photography and this exhibit will feature a curated selection of work from the current issue on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Do some shopping at Gunner's Daughter's pop-up shop at the Alida Hotel's Keep Shop. Items include maritime-inspired accessories that will be perfect for summer. The pop-up will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Support SCAD's new original musical "The Lucas Show: Happy Days Are Here Again." The performing arts department's performance is about 1930s Savannah, and will be presented Friday and Saturday evening at 8 p.m. at SCAD. Tickets are available online and in-person at the Savannah Box Office: $5 for SCAD Card holders; $10 for non-SCAD students, seniors and military; and $15 for the general public.
  • Try your hand at painting with the Watercolor Botanicals workshop at Hygge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. It's open to beginners or the experienced, and materials are included.
  • Spend the day at Service Brewing starting at 11:30 a.m. with a $15 60-minute vinyasa yoga class. A pint of beer will be offered to those 21 and over. Bring your yoga mat and arrive as early as 11 a.m.
  • End the day at Service Brewing with the Humane Society's Yappy Hour running from noon to 4 p.m. Adopt a pet, enjoy live music by New York-based Reggae trio Qwister and food from Yoshi's Kitchen food truck.
