This weekend is full of music and family fun in Savannah. Do Savannah's Joshua Peacock has some tips.Joshua talks weekend events.

Joshua's picks:

  • Enjoy an evening of poetry as the GA Poetry Circuit returns to the Book Lady Bookstore. This weekend's event features poet Adrian Matejka, as well as drinks, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday; free.
  • Get an early taste of Stopover (and some beer) when Martin Sexton comes to the Jinx. The event also offers the chance to sample Service Brewing's new beer, made just for Stopover, at 9 p.m. Friday; $25.
  • Take the whole family to the Savannah Black Heritage Festival's Grand Festival Day. The festivities begin with a walk tracing W.W. Law's postal route, then continues at the Civic Center with a full day of performances, crafts, local authors, health information and more, from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; $5 general admission, free for Savannah State students. Full schedule here.
  • Have a classical evening with the Savannah Philharmonic's Musicians' Choice concert at the Lucas Theatre, where the musicians have picked the program. They'll play a Brahms concerto and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday; $25-80.
  • Get ready for the Savannah Music Festival with another preview show: Rebirth Brass Band will play Southbound Brewing, coupled with the release of this year's special festival IPA, at 8 p.m. Saturday; $25.
  • Don't miss your chance to explore Savannah's many museums free of charge during Super Museum Sunday. As part of the Georgia History Festival, sites will offer free admission from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
