Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera's newest book together, "What If It's Us," is a young adult novel about two teen boys who fall in love after a chance meeting in a post office.

The nights are getting longer, the days getting colder...it's high time to curl up with a book this holiday season. Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera are the authors of "What If It's Us," a young adult novel about two teen boys who fall in love over a summer in New York City. It's a book full of meet-cutes and missed connections, much like Albertalli and Silvera's own relationship.

Here are their recommended additions to our "Southern Reading List," our series of authors and readers sharing books that define and reflect the South.

Authors Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera discuss their new novel, "What If It's Us."

They recommend Nic Stone's "Odd One Out"; Angie Thomas' "The Hate U Give"; and John Corey Whaley's "Where Things Come Back."

Albertalli and Silvera also discussed their friendship and the real-life inspiration behind "What If It's Us." The production company Anonymous Content recently optioned the book for a movie, which both authors will also help to produce.
