Fall is here, which brings plenty to do in Savannah. Claire Sandow of the Tourism Leadership Council and Bill Dawers of the Savannah Morning News and hissing lawns share some highlights.Claire and Bill talk weekend events.

Bill's picks:

  • Start the weekend with some music at the Jinx. Megan Jean and the Klay Family Band will play along with Britt Scott and Corey Chambers, from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday.
  • Hop on your bike and head to Grayson Stadium for the Savannah Bicycle Campaign's Moonlight Garden Ride. Take a police-escorted ride through Savannah's historic downtown after dark, a costume contest and more. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, with the bikes rolling out at 7 p.m.; $25 for SBC members, $30 for non-members.
  • Get spooky for a cause at the HallowGreen Fest, featuring a concert by Ashley McBryde and a costume contest. It all benefits Film Biz Recycling, a nonprofit film prop recycling business, and doubles as a kids' costume drive (exchange a new kid costume for drink tickets). The event runs 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday at The Wesley, 2201 Bull St.; $30.
  • Drive away the Monday blues with a bit of metal. Torche is in town to play the Jinx, starting at 9 p.m. Monday; $10 in advance, $12 day-of.

Claire's picks:

  • Do some early trick-or-treating – with animals, no less! – at Oatland Island Wildlife Center's Halloween Hike. Put on those costumes, bring a container for candy and spend the evening collecting candy and visiting the center's furry friends, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; $10 for kids, $5 for adults.
  • Pets can dress up too, at the annual Wag-o-ween. Dogs (and their people) can go trick or treating at restaurants and other businesses downtown and compete in a costume contest, all benefitting Dachshund Rescue of North America and Coastal Pet Rescue. Register at Huntingdon and Abercorn for this event, which runs 12 noon to 5 p.m. Saturday; $5.
  • Enjoy the fall weather at the Isle of Hope Art and Music Fest, featuring an art show at the marina pavilion from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and music at the marina from 11 p.m. to 8p.m. Saturday; free.
  • Find even more festivities at Skidaway Island State Park's Fall Family Fun Festival, which includes music, food trucks, arts and crafts and more from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; $5 to park.
  • Become an Impressionist at the Jepson Center's Free Family Day, this month tied in with the Monet to Matisse exhibit. Kids can try their hands at pointilism and plein air painting in front of the museum, just like the nineteenth century masters before them, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday; free.
