Many of the at-risk students who attend Graduation Achievement Charter High School will lose one more option when the school closes down in June.

Graduation Achievement Charter High School was founded in 2012 to help at-risk students earn their diplomas. But after six years of poor performance, Georgia’s first virtual charter high school — and only “alternative”  school within the state charter system — is shutting down. The last senior class graduates later this month.

McCray has reported on whether or not online or virtual charter schools set students up for success.  She explained to us why the Graduation Achievement model ultimately failed, and where the 1,700 students without diplomas will turn to finish their educations.
