Hurricane Matthew: School Closings

This is not a comprehensive list of all school closings in Georgia. If an institution is closed due to Hurricane Matthew and isn't included, please let us know in the comments section. 

All Savannah-Chatham County Schools will be closed Wednesday-Friday

Step of Faith Christian Academy will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10/5-10/7. 

Colleton County in SC has canceled school for the remainder of the week 

Beaufort County Schools have been canceled for the remainder of the week.

Jasper County Schools have been canceled for the remainder of the week

Hampton County Schools have been canceled for the remainder of the week

USC-Beaufort- classes canceled after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, campus closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.  

Benedictine Military School will be closed Wednesday-Monday, including all extracurricular activities and the GOAL breakfast.

SCAD Savannah classes and athletic events are canceled Wednesday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Oct. 9. 

Urban Christian Academy closed Wednesday-Friday 

St. Andrew's School closed Wednesday-Friday 

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School Closed Wednesday-Friday

Sylvan Learning Center closed until Sunday )(tentative) 

Ash Tree Learning Center Academy closed Friday 

Bible Baptist School will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  All school activities are canceled.

EOA Headstart Program in Chatham County closed until Monday. 

Matthew Reardon School for Autism closed Wednesday-Monday

Savannah Catholic schools will close Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to safety concerns about Hurricane Matthew. This includes Blessed Sacrament, St. James, St.

Frances Cabrini and St. Peter the Apostle.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday for the Ash Tree Learning Center Academy (ATLCA).

Savannah Country Day will close school for the remainder of the week. This includes all school related activities and athletic events. Classes are scheduled to resume on Thursday, October 13

Calvary Day School closed Wednesday-Monday

Royce Learning Center Adult & Community Center closed Wednesday-Friday 

Montessori Academy of Savannah closing at noon Wednesday, Oct. 5 and will remain closed through Monday, Oct. 10.

Hancock Day School will be closed Oct. 5th until the end of fall break on Oct 12th. This includes all after-school and athletic activities, as well as Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day. 

Bethesda Academy is closed from Wednesday through Friday.

St. Vincent Academy closed Wednesday through Monday.

St. James Catholic School close Wed, Thur, Friday.

Shining Star Daycare in Savannah is closed Wednesday through Friday.

Palmetto School of Career Development will not have classes starting Wed at 2 p.m. through Sat. We will reopen on Monday.

The Learning Treehouse will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, October 5th for the full day. We will CLOSE EARLY at 12:00pm on Thursday, October 6th. We will CLOSE all day on Friday, October 7th

Odum Learning Academy will be closed Thursday & Friday

Jasper Springs Childcare in Garden City will be closed Wednesday to Friday.

Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, Inc. and The Lady Bamford Early Childhood Education Center will be closed for the rest of the week due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew.

CAN Academy will be closed from Wednesday through Friday. 

The Children 's Village in Richmond Hill will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Ramah Jr. Academy will be closed on Wednesday-Friday.

Starting Point Day will be Open Wednesday 6:30 a.m. -3:00 p.m. only. Closed Thursday and Friday.

Tot’s Learning Academy will be closed Thursday and Friday at all 3 locations. 

Hodge Memorial Day Care Center closed Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Friday, Oct. 7.

Savannah Children's World Academy will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Friday, Oct. 7.

Memorial Day School (currently on Fall Break) has rescheduled this week's athletic activities for Monday (Oct. 10) and Tuesday (Oct. 11).

Memorial Day Care Center closed Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7.

Legacy Christian Academy in Ridgeland, SC will be closed Wednesday - Monday, Oct. 5 - 10.

Renee's Kids World in Savannah will be closed until Monday, Oct. 10.

All classes at Armstrong State University’s main campus in Savannah and the Armstrong Liberty Center in Hinesville will be canceled as of noon Wednesday, Oct. 5. All residence halls will close at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. Classes and normal business operations will resume on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 a.m. 

Royce Learning Center will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Friday, Oct. 7.

Chatham Academy will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 5 - Monday, Oct. 10.

Glynn County public schools will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. All schools will remain open on Wednesday, Oct. 5, however all afterschool programs, including instructional programs, Boys and Girls Club programs at middle school sites, and band and athletic programs will be cancelled Wednesday afternoon. Glynn County School System employees should not report to work on Thursday or Friday

Georgia Southern University campus is closed, effective 10 a.m. The Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah will also be closed Friday through Saturday - all events canceled for both days. 

B&S Academy and Preschool closed Thursday and Friday

Liberty County Schools closed Thursday and Friday

First Christian Academy of Richmond Hill closed Thursday and Friday

Savannah Technical College campuses closing at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed until Monday

Bryan County Schools closed Thursday and Friday

Evans County Schools will have school Thursday, but after-school activities will be canceled. No school Friday. Football game has been rescheduled for Monday. 

South University to close at 4 p.m. Wednesday and reopen Monday

Mercer University School of Medicine Savannah closed from 12 p.m. Thursday until Monday

Effingham County Schools closed Thursday and Friday 

Start Smart Learning Center in Rincon will be closed Thursday, October 6th and Friday, October 7th

Coastal Pines Technical College locations closed until Monday

Maggie's Morning School closed Thursday and Friday 

Bulloch County Schools closed Friday

East Georgia State College's Statesboro campus closed Friday

Head Start programs closed Thursday and Friday: Glynn, Liberty, Bryan, and McIntosh counties

Head Start programs closed Friday: Tattnall and Evans counties

Bible Baptist Christian Academy closed Friday

Camden County Head start will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Long County and Wayne County Head start will be closed Friday.

McIntosh County Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. Schools will also be closed on Monday, Oct. 10 for Columbus Day. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Little Rascals in Statesboro will be closed Friday, Oct. 7. 

Richmond Hill PALS Daycare closed Thursday and Friday, Oct. 6-7.

First Presbyterian in Hinesville closed Thursday and Friday.

Statesboro STEAM Academy closed Friday.

Wayne County Schools closed Friday

Coffee County Schools closed Friday

Brantley, Charlton public schools: open Thursday, closed Friday

Ware public schools: early release Thursday, closed Friday

Camden, Effingham, Liberty, Glynn public schools: closed Thursday and Friday

Georgia Southern University: open Thursday, closed Friday

Savannah Technical College: closed Thursday and Friday

College of Coastal Georgia, Savannah College of Art and Design: closed through Sunday

Chatham County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday.

Effingham County Public Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Liberty County Public Schools will be closed Thursday through Wednesday.

Evans County Public Schools will have no after school activities on Thursday and will be closed Friday through Tuesday.

Benedictine Military School will be closed Wednesday through Monday (Columbus Day holiday) in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew. This includes all extracurricular activities. BC will reopen Tuesday, pending no additional concerns.

Bethesda Academy is closed through Friday.

St. Vincent's Academy is closed until Monday. 

St. James is closed through Friday.

St. Andrews is closed through Friday.

St. Peter's the Apostle Catholic School is closed through Friday.

Blessed Sacrament is closed through Friday. 

Savannah Country Day school is closed until Thursday, October 13.

Savannah Law School closed Thursday through Monday.

Calvary Day School is closed until Monday. 

SCAD has already canceled all classes for the rest of the week.

Statesboro STEAM Academy closing Friday.

Georgia Southern University campus will close at 10 a.m. Thursday. School leaders said this will allow for students, teachers and faculty to evacuate. All school-sponsored events are canceled through Saturday.

Savannah Technical College closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday, and will remain closed through Friday. All classes that begin at 5 p.m. or later Wednesday are canceled as well. Savannah Tech will reopen on Monday. 

Armstrong State University is closed until Monday.

South University is closed until Sunday.
