Molly Swagler, vice president of the Tourism Leadership Council, and Scott West, founder of Savannah Master Calendar, offer up some ways to have spooky fun for Halloween in Savannah and beyond.

Scott's picks:

-The Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce hosts one of their biggest events of the year at Tubby's Tank House on Thursday. The popular fall business connection features an oyster roast. Thursday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; $10 for members, $25 for guests.

-Show off your costume and get in the Halloween spirit with Fright Night at Dollhouse Productions, hosted by the West Broad Street YMCA. Compete in the costume contest, enjoy great food and drinks and dance the night away in spooky fashion. Thursday, 7-11 p.m.; $20 entry, $5 to enter costume contest.

-Check out a scary sight of a different kind as notable Savannahians rappel down the side of the Manger building downtown for the Boy Scouts Over the Edge fundraiser. Be sure to check out the Liquid Courage Party in Johnson Square the night before to gear up for the big jump. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

-Don't miss this year's local take on a cult Halloween classic: Bay Street Theatre Company's production of The Rocky Horror Show. Local director JinHi Soucy Rand helms the production of the musical, which promises a fun time and talented local actors. Thursday-Saturday, 7:30-9 p.m.; $20-25.

-Put on your fanciest attire - and mask, of course - for a masquerade gala and auction at Johnny Harris Restaurant on Friday. Enjoy food and live entertainment. Proceeds benefit Savannah Children's Theatre. Friday, 6:30 p.m.; $50.

-Don't limit your revelling to Savannah; if you're outside the city, check out the Boo Bash at the Richmond Hill City Center. Enjoy all kinds of goodies: homemade chips and popcorn, hot dogs and, of course, candy. Saturday, 4-7 p.m.; $10 children, $5 adults, children under 2 free.

-Find double the scares on Tybee Island with back-to-back haunted festivities benefiting the Tybee Maritime Academy. First up it's the Haunted Hut Trail presented by Bo Bien Hut restaurant, with a unique "Rock N Roll Haunted Shark Attack Vintage Surf A Go Go" theme. Saturday, 6-9 p.m.; $5. Then follow a guide through a two-story maze at the Haunted House of Tybee Island, presented by Toppin Hot Dogs Cafe. Saturday, 8:15-10 p.m.; $7 advance, $8 at the door.

Molly's picks:

-Kids don't have to wait for Halloween to start gathering their candy. River Street businesses will be handing out sweets Thursday as part of the Pre-Trick-or-Treat on River Street. Just stop in at any business with a sign saying it's participating to know where you can find that tasty candy. Thursday, 5-8 p.m.; free.

-Experience one of Savannah's most famous ghosts in a whole new way with the opera Alice Ryley: A Savannah Ghost Story, premiering Friday at the Charles H. Morris Center. The show, commissioned by the Sherrill Milnes VOICE Programs, tells the story of Alice, and Irish indentured servant who was executed for murder in the 1700s and is said to haunt Wright Square to this day. Friday, 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.; $47-53.

-Get a taste of Halloween 1820s-style with the Davenport House's Stranger Than Fiction: An Exploration of the Extraordinary in Old Savannah. The new living history program explores what thrilled, scared and horrified Savannahians of that era, and focuses on the spiritual convictions of Lowcountry African Americans of the past. The program isn't suitable for children under 12 years of age. Friday and Saturday, 7:30-9 p.m.; $22 in advance, $25 at the door.

-Take the whole family for a day of fun at the Wilmington Island Farmers' Market's Halloween Fest. The event will feature a costume parade, treats from vendors, musical chairs and monster mash. Saturday, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; free.
