At a media conference Wednesday, Fulton County commissioners expressed their condolences to the family and the police department. They called Det. Green a "hero" and urged citizens to use this time to come together to take responsibility for their community safety.

The suspect is identified as 32 year old Amanuel Menghesah of Fairburn. He was wounded and also taken to Grady Hospital. His condition is not unknown.

Detective Green was 48 years old. He survived by his parents and four sons.
