A new poll shows most Georgia voters are willing to pay more for transportation upgrades.

The Georgia Transportation Alliance conducted the poll last week and gave an advanced copy to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The paper reports of just over 600 likely voters surveyed, 57 percent said they would support paying a small gas tax increase if the money meant better transportation.

Sixty–two percent said Georgia should have a dedicated fund for statewide transit.

The poll comes as lawmakers debate a bill that would raise 1 billion dollars in new transportation funding.
