Roy Barnes and Sonny Perdue

Former Governor Sonny Perdue has hired his Democratic rival from the 2002 election.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Roy Barnes is serving as Perdue's attorney, in a lawsuit involving an agricultural firm owned by Perdue.

Perdue is seeking $2.2 million dollars from a North Carolina bank and others, for a now–defunct wheat mill.

Barnes returned to practicing law at his lucrative practice after failing a gubernatorial bid in 2002 and 2010. He tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he feels Perdue's lawsuit is "entitled to prevail" and looks forward to defending the former governor.
