Atlanta-based Delta Airlines is among the supporters of President Obama’s executive order on immigration. The President’s order shields about 5 million people at risk of deportation. Some will also be allowed to apply for work permits.

In a statement released last Friday, Delta’s Vice President of Human Resources said, “The President's actions will provide economic development opportunities and enhance public safety by streamlining legal immigration while cracking down on illegal immigration at the border and focusing on deporting felons rather than families."

Few major companies have spoken out in favor of the policy, and Delta is the only airline to do so. Business groups, such as the US Chamber of Commerce, say the favor comprehensive immigration reform passed by Congress.

Delta CEO Richard Anderson says he’s received lots of emails from individuals who are angry with his company’s decision. In an interview with CBS This Morning, Anderson said supporting the President’s action makes good business sense.
