Savannah Film Fest

Annabelle Carr of Savannah Magazine and Autumn Van Gunten of You’re Welcome Savannah offer ideas on ways to have a great weekend in and around Savannah.

Annabelle’s picks:

-Enjoy Southern Style - and draw some inspiration - from “Rooms with a View” at the Jepson Center. Designers have transformed the space into a design showcase, highlighting their takes on southern design. Preview party Thursday, 6:30 p.m.; tickets starting at $85. Lecture and luncheon Friday, 10 a.m.; $75 full event, $40 lecture only. Muffins and Mimosas Saturday, 10 a.m.; $35.

-The Savannah Film Festival kicks off this weekend and continues through next week, honoring actors including Gena Rowlands and Matt Bomer. View films and attend panel discussions, or just soak up the excitement around town and keep your eye out for celebrities. Oct. 25-Nov.1; full info and ticket details here

Autumn’s picks:

-Get into the Halloween spirit - and preview your kids’ costumes - at Oatland Island Wildlife Center with their Halloween Hike on Friday and Saturday evening. Kids can walk the forest trail and collect goodies from animal characters, or hang out and hear stories from Mother Goose. Friday and Saturday, 5-8 p.m., last hike leaving at 8; $8 adults, $6 children.

-The second edition of Slideluck Savannah is coming up next month, and this week is your last chance to submit your art. It’s a night of food, fun, music and art where each artist has the chance to present five minutes of work set to music. Submission deadline Friday, event Nov. 13; $5 with dish, $10 without.

-Enjoy music and art in a beautiful setting Saturday at the Isle of Hope Art & Music Fest, in the marina and marina pavilion. In addition to great regional artists and musicians, the event will feature fun activities for kids. Saturday, art 10 a.m.-5 p.m., music 12-8 p.m.; free.
