Heather’s picks:

-Ampersand will host Synesthesia Sensory Sensation, with entertainment from seven bands, aerial performers and visual artists. Friday, 7 p.m.; $5

-Also Friday, HangFire will celebrate Christmas in July with live music and a drag performance from House of Gunt - plus drink specials for guests who brave the heat in ugly holiday sweaters. Friday, 10 p.m.; $5

-Kids can don their best costumes and meet favorite fairy tale characters at the Savannah Children’s Theatre’s Fairy Tale Fest on Saturday. The fun will include arts and crafts, face-painting and snacks, and proceeds benefit the theatre’s upcoming season. Saturday, 10 a.m.; $25 for children, $5 for adults

Angel’s picks:

-Teams of filmmakers will be shooting all over the city this weekend as part of the 48-Hour Film Project. Each team will get a genre Friday evening and have to create a complete film by Sunday evening. See the finished products August 8-10 Muse Arts Warehouse.

-Meet pets looking for their forever home -- and maybe take one home -- at TailsSpin’s Save-A-Life adoption event Saturday in Habersham Village. Saturday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
