Federal officials say they plan to close the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's Georgia Rural Development Office in Baxley.

The office is scheduled to be closed by Dec. 7.

USDA officials said the office has served the agency's southeast region of Georgia for more than 30 years. Offices in Statesboro, Blackshear and Douglas will remain open.
