The sheriff in an east Georgia county who narrowly lost a re-election bid has filed a complaint with state officials, alleging that a dead person and felons cast ballots in the Nov. 6 election.

Lincoln County Sheriff Gerald Lawson filed the complaint with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. The sheriff also alleged irregularities with absentee ballots in the election.

An investigator has been assigned to look into the case, said Chris Perlera, a spokesman for the Secretary of State's Office.
